In 1989, he was an ICOMP Visiting Scientist at NASA Lewis Center. He was awarded the G-7 Summit Fellowship from 1993 to 1994 and the Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award in 1994. Between 1995 and 1997, he received the NATO Collaborative Research Award. In 2003, Prof. Amirouche earned the Faculty Research Award from the University of Illinois at Chicago and has been serving as the Vice President of Biomint/UNESCO for Micro and Nanotechnology Applications to Medicine since 2003. He was named a Membre Titulaire of the World Academy of Biomedical Technologies, UNESCO, in 2004 and became a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and a University of Illinois Scholar Professor in 2005. In 2006, he was honored as a Chevalier of “Palmes AcadĆ©miques” by France and served as a National Academies Advisor for the Keck Futures Initiatives Conference.
