Professor Dr. Hashem Mohd Ali Al-Mattarneh, born on December 1, 1961, in Zarga, Jordan, is an esteemed expert in Civil Engineering, specializing in structural and material engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Structures and Materials) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, a Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Structures and Materials) from Universiti Teknologi Mara, and a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Yarmouk University, Jordan. Currently serving as a Professor at Badji Mokhtar Annaba University in Algeria since 2018, Dr. Al-Mattarneh has an extensive academic and professional background, including notable positions at King Khalid University, Najran University, Zarka University, and Jordan University of Science and Technology. His research focuses on nondestructive testing and evaluation of civil engineering infrastructures, numerical modeling and optimization, and the development of expert systems for civil engineering applications. Dr. Al-Mattarneh has contributed significantly to the field through his participation in over 20 international conferences, numerous publications, and supervision of postgraduate students. His innovative work has earned him multiple awards, including gold medals at the Brussels Innova and Barcelona Innova competitions. Professor Dr. Hashem Mohd Ali Al-Mattarneh holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Structures and Materials) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (National University Malaysia), completed between 2001 and 2005, with a dissertation titled “Development of Mobile Dielectric Probe System for Nondestructive Evaluation of Hardened Concrete.” He also earned a Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Structures and Materials) from Universiti Teknologi Mara (University Technology Mara) in 2000-2001, where his research focused on the “Electromagnetic Properties of Portland Cement Concrete Using Microwave Nondestructive Testing Techniques.” Additionally, Dr. Al-Mattarneh obtained a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Yarmouk University, Jordan, in 1986/1987, graduating with a grade of Very Good (CGPA 77.9).

Professor Dr. Hashem Mohd Ali Al-Mattarneh has held various prestigious positions throughout his career. Since 2018, he has been a Professor in Civil Engineering at Yarmouk University, Faculty of Engineering, Civil Engineering. Prior to this, he served as an Associate Professor and Advisor at King Khalid University, Abha, Saudi Arabia, from 2017 to 2018. From 2016 to 2017, Dr. Al-Mattarneh was a Professor and Head of Quality, Development, and Accreditation at Najran University, where he also served as an Associate Professor and Head of Quality, Development, and Accreditation from 2011 to 2016. In 2010-2011, he was an Associate Professor and Chairman of the Civil Engineering Department at Zarka University. He also held positions as an Associate Professor and Lecturer at Jordan University of Science and Technology in 2009-2010, and as an Associate Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Jerash Private University during the same period. From 2006 to 2008, Dr. Al-Mattarneh was an Associate Professor and Head of Structure and Material at Universiti Tenaga Nasional. Professor Dr. Hashem Mohd Ali Al-Mattarneh has been honored with numerous prestigious awards for his innovative work in civil engineering. In November 2016, he received a Gold Medal with Mention at the Brussels Innova 2016 and Eureka Competition in Belgium for his project on Microwave Absorber Composites Incorporated Nano Particles. At the same event, he also secured a Gold Medal for his Simple Dielectric Sensor for Quality Control of Transformer Oil. In 2016, Dr. Al-Mattarneh was awarded multiple gold medals at the Barcelona Innova 2016 and Eureka Competition in Spain, including for his projects on the Field Electromagnetic Soil Pollution Sensor (FESPS), the Geopolymer Concrete Mix Design Expert System (GCMD-ES), and the Surface Capacitive Sensor for Material Characterization (SCS). Additionally, he earned a Silver Medal for his Microwave Water Quality Sensor (MWQS) at the same competition. Earlier in his career, in 2004, he won a Gold Medal in Geneva, Switzerland, for his Mobile Dielectric Probe System for Characterization of Composite Material.
