Prof.Dr. Samir Kumar Bandyopadhyay is a distinguished academic and medical professional with over 36 years of teaching and 40 years of research experience. He serves as a Professor of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Calcutta and holds honorary positions at Lincoln University, Malaysia, and JIS University, India. With three Ph.D. degrees in Cardiology, Breast Cancer, and Brain Tumor from premier institutions like Calcutta University, UCL, and MIT, his expertise spans Biomedical Image Processing, Pattern Recognition, and Medical Imaging. A former Vice-Chancellor of WBUT, Prof. Bandyopadhyay has supervised 100 Ph.D. scholars.
